Laughter and live music poured out of the Blue Goose bar as people flocked to it. Located in Honolulu, Hawaii, the Blue Goose was a popular bar during the 1960s-70s for college students. Just down the road from the University of Hawaii on Oahu, the Blue Goose offered a full bar and live R&B musical performances. During the 1970s, a popular Hawaiian group called Jon & Randy played at the Blue Goose, drawing large crowds filling the bar to the brim.

As with many early air carriers, Western Airlines began in 1925 as a mail carrier service. Based in California, Western went through many stages over its sixty plus year existence. When it began serving as a commercial airline it initially focused on the Western United States. In 1969 it began offering service to Honolulu and Hilo with high end service which they called The Islander routes.

Christopher Columbus Smith was only 13 years old when he built his first wooden boat in 1874. He worked with his brother Henry and other innovators over the years before officially becoming Chris-Craft in 1924. Their mahogany hulled powerboats ruled American waterways from the 1920's on, in large part due to their assembly line manufacturing but also their sleek design. Originating in 1960, the Hawaiian Canoe Club began with John M. Lake and 25 other members with Hawaiian ancestry, with the christened Kokololio-Swift Winds of Waikapu- as the club’s first canoe. Growing in size, the club competed in its first state regatta in 1962, merging paddlers from Hawaiian, Kahului, and Lahaina canoe clubs to create the crews.
